Chap Stick, Advil, and Granola

It's time for Monday Listicles with Stasha at The Good Life.  This week's challenge is 10 Things In My Purse.

Quick story for you. While Christmas shopping, I found this lovely Lands End bag. I decided to purchase it for my mother-in-law as her gift. I liked the bag so much that I actually fought the urge to purchase a second one for my own personal use. We gave her the bag on Christmas, and she said she loved it. However, last week she gave it back to me!! Said that she did love it, but it was really too big for her. Plus, she knew how much I loved it and wanted me to have it. So, as much as I hate what that means for her, I love what it means for me. One - I have the absolute best MIL in the world. And two - I now have this amazing bag.

So, for the things inside..

1. Strawberry Chap Stick - Truth is, I have a tube of chap stick in several places. It's an addiction.

2. Nail Clippers - I very rarely use them, but it's nice to be able to help someone out when they are in need of a set.

3. 3 Flash Drives - Not really sure why I carry all three with me except for I like to have them at my disposal if in need. You never know when I may need to break out pictures from the "early years."

4. Tampons - A girl needs to be prepared. And there should always be variety.

5. Medicine - Of all sorts. I'm a headache prone individual and each of my headaches are different. The type of headache determines the kind of medicine I take. Most anytime, I've got Advil, Advil Cold & Sinus, Advil Allergy, and Midol in a little pouch inside. My friends often say I am a walking pharmacy.

6. Granola Bar - A girl's gotta eat! It's a Sunbelt Chewy Chocolate Chip/

7. Wallet - Contains my checkbook, some stamps, and cards that I rarely use.

8. Card Wallet - Made by Vera Bradley, this is my go to everyday wallet. I keep my driver's license and most frequently used cards here. It also includes my frequent dining cards... ha.

9. Change purse - For some reason, I feel the need to keep my actual money and my cards separate. So, in this small Vera Bradley pouch, you'll find a bit of change and that's usually about it!

10. Makeup Compact - I do not use it every day, but I'm so glad it's there when I need it.

This evening, the contents of my purse are fairly calm - it's the end of the day and the beginning of a new week. My personality prefers to start each week with a cleaned out bag!  But I must say, at any given time during the week, you can find just about anything - from bags of skittles to my fleece jacket. That's exactly why I like a spacious bag with lots of pockets.

Would love to know what's in your purse! Be sure to link up or leave a comment. =D

Thanks for reading.

First of all, that bag is awesome. You are so lucky to have it, as well as an amazing MIL! Second, I am inspired by your purse contents- I need to do better with my own bag! It is a disaster!

LOL, you ARE a walking pharmacy! Always be prepared, I guess? I know what you mean about the lip balm addiction. I've got one in every bag I use & a couple coats too. My faves are anything minty made of beeswax. :)

Nail clippers...what a good idea. I should carry a pair...nothing worse than getting a hangnail when you're out. :(

I have tubes of lip balm (as well as readers) all over the house too.

So funny how we are all different in what we carry in our purse! Is it a clue into our personalities? I have my wallet jam packed with the essentials like tax exempt cards for thrift stores, credit cards and a little cash. I have my calendar with my essential girlfriend phone numbers, a few pens and a makeup bag with lipstick and headache medicine. Just those things make it too heavy! I use a large crossbody hobo bag!

I love the bag too. What a nice MIL you have!

Hi Kate,
That is such a great list. It almost mirrors mine, except that my purse includes my daughter's potty seat. She's potty training and I have a great dislike (so as not to say hate) for public bathrooms. Bet you didn't see that one coming. No one does.
I found you on the Bloggy Moms Feb 2013 Blog Hop and am now following GFC, Twitter and Google+. If you get a chance, please stop by my blog http://momintheusa.blogspot.com. Thank you.

I'm totally digging the idea of three separate bags for money, cards and the rest! I could absolutely work with a specific coin purse. My wallet is a mess.

On a work trip, my husband found the perfect wallet. There's a spot for cash, a sleeve for receipts, and an accordian type back to it where I can put all of my cards, organized and everything. I guess he got tired of my hunt for the proper card every time we went anywhere.
And I can't believe you clean out your purse every week. Smart girl.

You are my hero. I pledge to clean out my purse once a week. Ok, month. Ok, year. Gotta be reasonable...

Three cheers for minimalist girls! Great bag, too.

My new goal is to start each week with a clean bag. It's not going to last, but I've gotta try!

I have several things to say here:
1. I totally wanted to use the Welcome Sofa on my blog too!!
2. I love the "Keep Up with Kate" section- too cute!
3. 52 followers!?! Weren't you at 20'something when I first met you?
4. Last but not least- we REALLY ARE Bloggy BFFs because I too clean my purse out every week AND I was just in Target the other night looking for a purse. I was so confused because every "purse" I liked was tagged "tote." Tote? It's not a "Tote" . It's a purse. I really really big purse. For people like me who carry a ton of stuff.

We need to one day take our clean and organized purses/totes out on a girls night out;)

Ha! I'm like you, I carry a lot of things that I don't use regularly but won't give up just in case I need them - clippers, compact, granola bar...

haha how awesome you got it back! nice!!! by the way, I'm following you back! I tried responding to your comment on my blog and it says you're a no reply blogger - view my blog and click on the "blogging for newbies" button and it will tell you how to fix it - a lot of people won't "friend" or reply back to no reply bloggers so I wanted to help you and let you in on that secret. lol. it might be why some ppl haven't been responding to you....as lame as it is that they wouldn't take the time to come say hi and tell you, most ppl don't!
